The Ataris

After a tidal wave of attention took them from indie label Kung Fu to a deal with Columbia, it seemed as if Midwestern pop-punkers The Ataris were primed to be a mainstream success. Instead, 2003’s So Long Astoria brought about seismic shifts: Not only did Columbia drop them, but soon after the band found itself reduced to a duo. Four years later, frontman Kristopher Roe and guitarist John Collura resurfaced with the brooding Welcome The Night. In the wake of Collura’s departure, Roe has launched another version of The Ataris. The current four-piece lineup is slated to release a new album, the more upbeat The Graveyard Of The Atlantic, in 2012.
