The Black isn’t doing itself a hell of a lot of favors with its frustratingly simple moniker—as lost as rock music is already adrift in a sea of selfsame Angels and Keys—but this Austin band’s sound hews closer to the warmer strains of The Band and folksy remnants from Laurel Canyon to get confused for anything particularly muddled or bluesy. Though not a new act, the band is picking up momentum with a solid lineup.
