So as not to make too big a thing of it for fear The Blacks might notice the attention and reconsider their low-key and unexpected reunion, let's just say this: The unparalleled alt-country quartet seems to be back for good, and has a new EP to prove it. After 2000's Just Like Home, the group extinguished its own flames, largely because Danny and Gina Black filed for divorce. Nearly a decade passed before they, along with Nora O' Connor and drummer James Emmenegger, astonishingly came back together at Bloodshot's Hideout Block Party in 2009. It's from there that the path to the new In Sickness And Health was paved. Sickness shows The Blacks haven't lost their touch: Gritty and honest, songs like "If It All Falls Through" and "Ten Years" prove they haven't just been twiddling their thumbs in the last decade.
