The Blow

Though 2006’s Paper Television was a pretty bitchin’ record, The Blow has been basically silent ever since Jona Bechtolt ended his stint with the band to start YACHT in 2007. Remaining member Khaela Maricich is as much a visual artist as she is a musical one, though, and she’s putting all of that style to good use with The Blow’s current tour. Created in collaboration with installation/conceptual artist Melissa Dyne, the performance centers on Maricich’s supposed work with a “big pop star” (who’s almost definitely Lindsay Lohan), her new songs pitched as demos for an unrealized album by the non-La Lohan. It’s a quirky tribute to the cult of celebrity, one that probably grows unfortunately more relevant with each sordid TMZ dirtbomb.
