The Breeders
The Breeders have managed to build up a loyal following over the years without always exactly being a functioning band—and it's been a long time since Last Splash vaulted them from Kim Deal's curious Pixies side project to “alternative rock” stars—but as with the Pixies reunion, absence has only made the heart grow fonder. Enduring breakups, rehab stints, and cold indifference (check cutout bins for the group’s 2002 effort, Title TK), The Breeders returned with 2008's Mountain Battles just in time to ride the cresting wave of ’90s nostalgia. After Mountain Battles, the group found itself without a label, but chose to self-release its new limited-edition EP, Fate To Fatal, and go on tour instead of sulking around and eating Mallomars.
