Classic rock-damaged art-pop quartet The Bright Light Social Hour is a bit curious in the current Austin scene: Savvy wiseacres with jazz-fusion chops slick enough to play to the Sixth Street crowd, yet still capable of blues-flecked, dance-rock spazz-outs that set Red River hips a-shaking. Its mix of populism and adventurousness nabbed the band the top spot in last year's ACL Sound And The Jury Contest—though herky-jerky workouts like "Back And Forth (Part 2)" certainly helped.
