Artist The Brunettes

Jonathan Bree and Heather Mansfield have been making music as The Brunettes for nearly a decade, but they’ve only recently picked up steam here in the States. Blame their relative obscurity on being New Zealanders, and credit a show opening for The Postal Service for grabbing the attention of Sub Pop head honcho Jonathan Poneman. The Seattle label issued The Brunettes’ twee-rific Structure & Cosmetics, which sports an indie-pop sound that brings to mind bands such as Camera Obscura, The Shins, and, on the dreamy “Her Hairagami Set,” The American Analog Set.
