The Dead Milkmen
What Spinal Tap is to hair metal, Philly's The Dead Milkmen was to punk music. Between forming in 1983 and disbanding in 1995, the group milked the satirical spirit behind songs like "My Many Smells" and "Wonderfully Coloured Plastic War Toys" to release eight studio albums. Bassist Dave Schulthise's tendonitis contributed to the band's decision to stop playing in '95; though, tragically, Schulthise committed suicide in 2004. After two smaller reunion shows shortly after, the remaining members joined once again in 2008, kicking off regular touring and practicing. Their latest album, The King In Yellow, was released in March so expect plenty of new material and classic tongue-in-cheek riffs.
