With an ode to Jack Daniels and a song aptly titled “Gracefully Facedown,” it’s not a stretch to say that alcohol has played a role in the lives of the members of the California band The Devil Makes Three. Technically Satan would make four with this trio, consisting of frontman-guitarist Pete Bernhard, guitarist Cooper McBean, and bassist Lucia Turino—all playing acoustic. Bernhard—clearly influenced by the Travis Barker School Of Personal Appearance—channels Americana twang like Steve Earle with a bit of punk, Jack White, and blue-eyed soul thrown in. Collectively, the members of The Devil Makes Three play vintage bluegrass party music that makes you want to line dance on tables. The group recently released a new live album, Stomp And Smash: Live At The Mystic Theatre.
