In the last decade, God and metalcore have commercially embraced, giving young suburbanites everywhere a reason to wear their WWJD philosophy on their half-sleeves. The Devil Wears Prada is a shining example of this phenomenon, as the Ohio-based band blends the perversity of painful screaming with a total devotion to Jesus. TDWP’s third release, 2009’s With Roots Above And Branches Below, keeps the band in a comfortable position with its usual nonsensical song titles, sinewy guitar melodies, and plenty of Underoath-ish mimicry. The new Dead Throne is more of the same, and has already topped both Billboard’s Christian and Independent album charts.
