The Dicks

Politically radical and musically pummeling, The Dicks are one of the few Austin bands with a rightful claim—along with MDC and Big Boys—to originating hardcore punk. Led by “commie fag” Gary Floyd, The Dicks made spit-and-snarl-coated aural assaults that were like nothing else at the time—throwing a predictable middle finger at the status quo with the much-covered “Hate The Police,” but also touching on topics that were taboo even in the punk world, such as anti-homophobia.
