The Dollyrots
The Dollyrots survived the embarrassment of getting discovered in a very un-punk Hewlett-Packard commercial to put out a decent first record, the ’60s girl-group-flavored Eat My Heart Out. The band hasn’t put its days of shilling behind it, though: The title track from 2007’s follow-up, Because I’m Awesome, was featured in both a Kohl’s commercial and the soundtrack to that spiritual sequel to Sid And Nancy and Suburbia et al., The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants 2. To be fair, The Dollyrots' stadium-sized female vocals and glam-meets-metal riffs can be traced back to Joan Jett, whose Blackheart Records recently released the band's latest, A Little Messed Up.
