Winnipeg’s The Duhks clearly take pride and pleasure in the weathered sounds of Appalachia, the bayou, the delta, and beyond, and tend to move the party from the rickety front porch to the well-appointed living room. The members play solid banjo, fiddle, and guitar, and Sarah Dugas’ voice tears into it just as hungrily, at times lending a bit of R&B ruggedness. With such a bright and windy finish, though, The Duhks chance the line between having fun and being manually forced to smile.
