The Eternals

Quirkiness, as an attribute, has been played out this past decade. Far too often, a piece of art makes its way to the masses and screams out, “Pay attention to me! I’m so weird!” In that case, quirky is a mask rather than a natural commodity. This is why Chicago duet The Eternals stand out from the rest. Band members Wayne Montana and Damon Locks seem to have been born quirky. Each electronic production trick makes sense. The band’s strange lyrics are sung by a weird-sounding singer. None of it feels desperate for notoriety, and that’s a great thing. The Eternals exemplify art based on an individual perspective rather than an amalgamation of tastes, which is why their music is worth a damn.
