The Golden Horse Ranch Band

Chicago’s no Nashville. There’s a decent country scene, but try to find a place to two-step on a Saturday, and you’re going to be S.O.L. Fortunately for all those pardners out there looking to cut a rug—or, well, a square—there’s the Golden Horse Ranch Band. Featuring members of The 1900s and Reds And Blue, this square dance band fiddles its way through all the country and bluegrass standards as well as a really bitching honky-tonk cover of “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” Unfortunately, most of the band’s shows are at The Hideout or The Whistler—where there’s not much room for dancing—but the group’s looking for a bigger space to hoedown in when its new full-length comes out later this year.
