Artist The Hackensaw Boys

These country boys have made good. Their melodies conjure up dirt roads, rolling fields, and the gentility of the old South, but the Hackensaw Boys have toured worldwide and caught the attention of the likes of the Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, Cheap Trick, and De La Soul. In the Virginia-based band, every member joins the harmonies and lends to the sound that includes harmonica, mandolin, fiddle, and banjo, among other instruments. They keep it light with songs like “Kiss You Down There” and “Hobo” while pulling in traditional Appalachian-inspired tunes and picking. Their sense of humor and nimble, sing-along-worthy melodies will draw in even the most stalwart yankee.
