The Hotrats

There’s something strange about members of a seminal Brit-pop act attempting the Beastie Boys’ “Fight For Your Right.” It’s a little less strange that they’d try Gang Of Four’s “Damaged Goods,” and hardly strange at all that they’d play “Drive My Car." However strange or not, the degree of dedication shown by covers-only project The Hotrats is still something to behold. Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey, the singer and drummer of Supergrass, worked with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich to produce an album of covers in the vein of David Bowie’s Pin Ups. The result, The Hotrats' Turn Ons, includes songs by the Sex Pistols, The Velvet Underground, and Roxy Music.
