The Hunger

The Hunger

Tony Scott’s 1983 directorial feature debut, The Hunger, tells the mildly erotic tale of an urbane vampire couple (Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie) in modern New York who fall into an odd love triangle with a doctor (Susan Sarandon). After Bowie’s biorhythms go into overdrive—he morphs from a handsome thirtysomething to a decrepit old codger in 10 minutes flat—he attracts the attention of Sarandon, who specializes in age research. But this only serves to lead Sarandon back to the bloodsuckers’ gothic dream home, and before long, Deneuve has boxed up her old lover in the attic and is rolling in the sheets with Sarandon. Sexy—if somewhat awkward—bloodletting ensues.
