The Hush Sound

When it started in 2005, The Hush Sound’s vaguely anachronistic, bouncily vaudevillian pop wasn’t really in keeping with the prevailing emo trends, but that’s what made it work. Live, the Chicago group was charming, but not cloying. The band scored a record deal thanks in part to fans in high places, namely Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy and Ryan Ross of Panic! At The Disco, both of whose bands the group ultimately toured with before they went on hiatus in 2008. All the members have moved on now to other projects—Gold Motel, Stamps, and Debate Team, among others. The group members reunited for “one last show” in 2010, but they must have had a good time, as they’re back again for two more gigs.
