The Jesus And Mary Chain
Formed by trailblazing Scottish brothers Jim and William Reid, The Jesus And Mary Chain revolutionized Britain’s post-punk music scene in the mid-’80s, taking cues from Phil Spector’s “wall of sound” production techniques and The Velvet Underground’s aural cool, mixing Beach Boys-inspired melodies with plenty of feedback-driven noise. For their first appearances in North America since 2008, and at least the fourth or fifth time the Reid brothers have spoken to each other this decade, the band will be joined by Psychocandy-era drummer turned guitarist John Moore and the bassist they inherited from Lush, Phil King. With more and more bands adopting and adapting its shoegaze legacy, The JAMC’s return seems perfectly timed.
