The Juan MacLean

Intriguingly inconsistent and often sneakily great, DFA affiliate The Juan MacLean is a dance band that plays grizzled, expansive electro and post-rock. The sound proves better the more it tends toward the former, but the rock side factors more when the group coheres as a real band. It’s been a long time since 2005’s breakout Less Than Human, but MacLean finally returned in 2009 with The Future Will Come, a buoyant, bouncy record that receives an extra disco twist with the help of guest vocalist Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem. Here, the group will perform a DJ set behind MacLean’s latest album, Everybody Get Close, released late in 2011.
