Artist The Lee Boys

For some, the pedal-steel guitar is just a nifty-sounding instrument, but for others, it's a righteous musical sword of God. Florida's Lee Boys follow the tradition of incorporating the instrument into steamy, jump-up-and-clap Southern gospel-blues with a bit of a country edge to it. They've managed to get their live performances out to crowds that surely do not consist entirely of church folk, too, hitting a bunch of festivals and Late Night With Conan O'Brien over the past year. They recently put out a DVD of their set from last year's Bonnaroo, though albums like 2005's Say Yes also make for a good introduction to their unpretentious, testifyin' boogie.
