The Locust

When The Locust first hijacked grindcore and took it on a joyride down the autobahn 12 years ago, the San Diego band’s pile-up of blastbeats and electro birthed a million cheap imitators. Despite all the cartoon futurism, though, the shtick got old quickly; by the time 2005’s Safety Second, Body Last came out, even the copycats had broken up or moved on. The Locust rebounded on 2007's New Erections, a more coherent and oddly catchy maturation of its swarm-like assault. The band followed it up in 2008 with Follow The Flock, Step In Shit, an EP released on a square CD.
