The Love Language
It’s said that the best revenge is living well, and The Love Language’s Stuart McLamb is taking that credo to heart: After getting dumped by his longtime girlfriend and kicked out of Raleigh’s The Capulets, McLamb holed up in a storage space with a four-track and recorded The Love Language’s self-titled debut—a sparkling lo-fi adventure that bathes his well-written pop tunes in a one-man Wall Of Sound. That record’s Merge-issued successor, 2010’s Libraries, found the singer-songwriter shacking up in a legitimate studio with producer B.J. Burton, who couched McLamb’s tunes in the lush accompaniment the debut longed for. It’s a bittersweet record that makes McLamb’s retribution all the more delectable.
