The Mae Shi

After touring for 2005’s Heartbeeps, L.A. no-wave group The Mae Shi decided it was done with the road—the band promoted 2006’s Don’t Ignore The Potential only with shows near its hometown. But the toils of life on the road have apparently grown faint in its members’ minds, as The Mae Shi began touring again last year behind its most recent album, 2008’s HLLLYH, a pleasing onslaught of brief, paroxysmal bursts of noise-pop. The Mae Shi’s short-is-good philosophy also extends to its live sets, which sometimes run just 15 minutes, so punctuality will be rewarded here.
