The Men
The Men are four-piece Brooklyn, New York band who make rock music. Technically, yes, they are on an independent label (Sacred Bones), but they’re not really “indie,” in that cutesy, precious way. They play hard, loud, and fast, and they scream over the tracks with whatever voices they have left. If you want something measured, precise, and genre-defying from your rock bands, look elsewhere. Sometimes a country twang pokes through the endless guitar riffs, and sometimes there’s a Foo Fighters-esque hook, belted out with a hell of a lot of energy, but for the most part, every song played by The Men sounds like it’s meant to get everyone in any given concert venue to stand up and move their upper bodies back and forth. On The Men’s most recent LP, Open Your Heart, the down moments are almost nonexistent, which is sure to translate to a most entertaining live experience.
