The Minus 5

The Minus 5 is sort of a latter-day version of revolving-door alt-rock supergroup The Golden Palominos, but with the sharp songwriting of Young Fresh Fellows’ Scott McCaughey at its center. The group’s membership most notably includes R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, and has also pulled in John Wesley Harding, Posies’ Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer, and Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy. (The group’s terrific 2003 album is even titled Down With Wilco in solidarity with Tweedy.) For the excellent, alt-country-tinged Killingsworth, McCaughey's joined by Buck and Decemberists drummer John Moen.
