The Nightwatchman

Tom Morello is hardly the Rage Against The Machine member that fans were most excited about going solo following the group's dissolution—which makes him an easy target. While frontman Zack De La Rocha remains relatively reclusive, guitarist Tom Morello has quietly stepped up as a solo artist under the name The Nightwatchman. Ditching the flashy guitar theatrics helped define RATM's sound and picking up an acoustic guitar, Morello tries to follow in the activist-folk footsteps of early Bob Dylan, but he lacks the imagery or poetic intelligence necessary to be taken completely seriously. Still, Morello obviously takes his music's message seriously, something evident in his donating the proceeds from 2009's Live At Lime to Amnesty International.
