Artist The Olivia Tremor Control

With Neutral Milk Hotel leader Jeff Mangum emerging from his creative cocoon this fall, it’s about time the other half-dormant pieces of the Elephant 6 collective started getting their touring legs back as well. Following Mangum out of the dark is The Olivia Tremor Control, the psychedelic, Beatles- and Zombies-indebted brainchild of Bill Doss and Will Cullen Hart. Though not nearly as celebrated or well-known as NMH, OTC has a pretty decent back catalog indeed, and after a decade recently supplemented it with a new song, “The Game You Play Is In Your Head: Parts 1, 2 & 3,” a seven-minute, kazoo-inflected promise of an album to come that won’t be too radically different from the OTC everyone loved.
