The Ponys

Chicago's The Ponys flitter around the same new-wave dustbins haunted by lots of rock bands these days, but they also leer further back to the kind of gruff, grizzled rock heard spilling out of garages and rec-rooms in the ’60s and ’70s. It’s a sound they’ve crafted over the course of several increasingly strong albums—including 2007’s Turn The Lights Out, a record given extra clout by way of Matador Records. In the last couple of years, members of The Ponys have been busy with other projects, including Disappears and touring as The Dutchess And The Duke’s backing band, but they've reconvened to write new material, which they're testing out with a few scattered dates.
