Even as it bounced around near the top of the charts in the mid-’90s, Seattle anti-grunge outfit The Presidents Of The United States Of America felt destined for a quick trip to obscurity: As catchy and fun as “Lump” and “Peaches” were, they essentially defined novelty. Following a lengthy hiatus, the Presidents returned in 2008 with a follow-up to 2004’s Love Everybody (itself delivered after another lengthy hiatus), These Are The Good Times People, an energetic return to stripped-down, tight melodies and a mix of sort-of-silly and really silly lyrics.
