The Pretenders

The best British group to feature a singer born in Akron, Ohio, The Pretenders have had their share of ups and down over the past 30 years, and even Chrissie Hynde admitted during her Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame acceptance speech in 2005 that the band has ultimately looked like a tribute act. With half of the founding members long dead from drugs, it makes sense that Hynde had to install a revolving door that saw two members of The Smiths pass through, and now she’s back together with original drummer Martin Chambers. The quartet appears here behind 2008’s rockabilly-flavored Break Up The Concrete.
