The Radio Dept.
With a sound straight out of a European discotheque, it kind of makes sense that The Radio Dept. got its start in Sweden in 1995. Members have since come and gone, but the group has maintained its dream-pop foundation. Its echoing and meandering beats and synthetic vocals in tracks like “The New Improved Hypocrisy” and “David” are vaguely comparable to a toned-down version of Hellogoodbye. The band has released countless singles and EPs over the past 15 years, but only three albums: 2003’s Lesser Matters, 2006’s Pet Grief and, most recently, 2010’s Clinging To A Scheme, which met with mixed reviews from fans and had a distinctly more ambient, repetitive tone than the previous releases.
