The Rapture
New York’s The Rapture dwells in the dance-rock department between The Killers and LCD Soundsystem, and helped set the musical tone for the early aughts with its indie/club crossover anthem, “House Of Jealous Lovers.” Despite claims of post-punk and free-jazz influence in its bio, the group is about as risky as a cup of herbal tea, but if ever a band were to pull off the move from rock club to DJ booth, it’s The Rapture. On a slight hiatus since bassist Matthew Safer’s departure in 2009, The Rapture is back manning the decks behind its new DFA release, In The Grace Of Your Love, its first since 2006’s Pieces Of The People We Love, and one that brings the band one step closer to edging out John & Paul for overusing the L-word.
