The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir
Local indie-pop outfit Scotland Yard Gospel Choir does a lot of ambitious things with its music, ranging from fusing roots with Tom Waits while also covering The Pogues (“Fairytale Of New York”) to churning out coffeehouse confessional ditties (“Everything You Paid For”). While some might find the group’s strains to be overly versatile and annoying, it attests to why the group has become so ubiquitous. The Morrissey devotees have had a tough year after a van crash left some members struggling to survive, but they’re back, and stronger than ever.
