Artist The Script

The Script, funnily enough, follows a well-trodden script: attractive and safe white guys making radio-ready, R&B-informed pop-rock; think Maroon 5 with less funk and more soft-rock appeal. It’s a commercially winning formula too, as evidenced by the Irish trio’s smash Top-40 hit “For the First Time.” The band’s 2010 sophomore LP, Science & Faith, was slammed by critics, but fans disagreed; it debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard charts. As far as commoditized rock goes, The Script isn’t painfully bad—it’s just a beige painting of vanilla ice cream.
