Artist The Shaky Hands

  • The Shaky Hands

The Shaky Hands’ self-titled debut jitters and jangles like a burnt-out mind taking refuge in happy thoughts. It’s the type of music that usually comes on too friendly or too coy (think nearly every band that’s ever tried to follow Neutral Milk Hotel), but this frail folk-pop evens out admirably. The Portland band uses its lo-fi prettiness to expand, not smother, the overall sound, leaving space for flutes, strings, and, of course, plenty of handclaps and white noise.
