The Sound Of Music

The Sound Of Music stretches to an intolerable three hours, but it includes several unforgettable Rodgers & Hammerstein numbers to help pass the time. (“Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Things,” “Sixteen Going On Seventeen,” “So Long, Farewell,” the title track… Sorry for putting these in your head for the rest of the day.) Julie Andrews stars as a governess who agrees to take on retired naval captain Christopher Plummer’s seven rowdy children. The kids have scared away many nannies before, but Andrews uses songs to bring them in line. Oh, and there are Nazis.
