The Soundtrack Of Our Lives
Swedish outfit The Soundtrack Of Our Lives has studied up on notable psych-pop acts of the ’60s and ’70s like The Who, as well as the sprawling, epic sounds of ’90s Brit-rock bands—thus its 2002 tour with Oasis. In 2009, the band released a 24-song double CD, Communion, which delves into familiar terrain on tracks like “Flipside,” a catchy ditty that treads a well-worn musical path. TSOOL plows on with its Americana roots-rock, stuffing the record with banjo plucks, heavy guitars, and twangy vocals that nonetheless seem impressive coming from a group of Scandinavians. (And there were apparently leftovers, heard on the follow-up Immaculate Convergence EP.)
