The Treats
The Treats’ most recent album, Sir Unicorn, offers a lesson to anyone looking for a fulfilling career in a local bar band: Don’t treat the blues attitude and punchy rhythms of classic rock like they’re dried up and boring, and they’ll help you out right back. The Madison trio keeps it pretty meat-and-potatoes throughout these 13 songs, getting deeper into the freaky acoustic blues of its 2007 album, Reservoir Tales, and making it a pretty lively journey, thanks to Andy Isham’s melodic guitar flutters (“Walk On By”) and lyrics that dare to leap into mythical stories and whimsical rhymes (“The Warden,” “Mistake”).
