The Trusty Knife

At first blush, The Trusty Knife may seem like another good-time indie dance band, but some strong musical chops and a knack for songwriting set the group apart from the pack. And while frontman Zack Pieper’s lyrics may seem like nothing more than slightly bent, stream-of-conscious poetry, upon closer inspection they reveal a surprising depth and fondness for small-town minutiae. The Trusty Knife hasn’t released anything since its terrific 2008 self-titled debut, though members of the band have branched off into other groups, most notably Crappy Dracula and Scrimshaw. A string of recent recording sessions and leaked tracks, however, point to a new album coming in the near future.
