The Von Ehrics
When Texas cow-punk trio The Von Ehrics hooked up with Madison label Crustacean Records, you could accuse neither of throwing their audience for a loop. The band's latest, 2009’sLoaded, holds fast to its rough-ridin' mix of punk and twang. It's like both band and label are happily hanging out in a time warp where everything's all right as long as the PBRs keep poppin'. It's hard to blame The Von Ehrics for sticking to the sound: They play it well and with a convincing country-fied toughness that makes it fun, from originals like "Loaded All Day" to a cover of Billy Joe Shaver's "Old Chunk Of Coal."
