Artist The Yoleus

Ask Chris Daughtry what vocals mean to him and he'd probably tell you it's how he connects with his fans. Ask the members of The Yoleus what vocals mean to them, and they'll tell you, "There's no room for vocals in what we do." That's because while lyrics-driven rawk rolls out a flabby, doughy version of rock 'n' roll to puddle up beneath all that earnest yarling, instrumental math rock allows the listener to discern what they can in between the whip-crack time changes and heavy, intricate melodies. Featuring Dave Erb from cherished Minneapolis guitar-pop contortionists Sicbay, The Yoleus shares that group's intensity but cuts out the singing, making it like a crosshatch of Primus, Fugazi, and Man Or Astroman? on head-shattering songs like "Rivets" off Nightmare Vision Circle.
