Thanks to an unlikely hit—“Understanding In A Car Crash” from 2001’s Full Collapse—Thursday bears a lot of the blame for the dreadful screamo fad that still lingers today. But unlike most of its peers and coattail-riders, the New Jersey group has matured well, expanding its sound and evolving into a post-punk powerhouse. After a brief stint on the majors, Thursday returned to the indies on punk label Epitaph and released 2009’s Common Existence. Expect a lot of new material during tonight’s live show, as the group is currently riding high on its latest album, No Devolución.
