Toki Wright’s clambered over the heads of many other rappers pounding the pavement in Minneapolis these past few years, snapping out rhymes charged with an indignant hint of reggae. He contributes not just his rich, deep voice, but also a lot of involvement in Twin Cities nonprofits and education, a double-threat of mic skills and positivity. Wright’s hometown label Rhymesayers picked up his album A Different Mirror for release in 2009, and he released an 8-song digital EP,BlackMale, the following year.
