Toki Wright

Toki Wright

Even 10 years ago, the idea that an MC could hold a 9-to-5 job title for something like program coordinator for the hip-hop department at a music school would have seemed impossible, but Twin Cities MC Toki Wright holds that title. The Rhymesayers vet began winning awards somewhere around 2003, and he kept winning. He’s the man behind the Twin Cities Celebration Of Hip Hop Festival And Conference; he’s a member of The Chosen Few and The C.O.R.E.; and he plays in Brother Ali’s live band. With more accolades under his belt than we have space to list here, he’s obviously earned the right to tenure. If the title “Ambassador To The Twin Cities Hip-Hop Scene” existed, Wright would be a shoe-in for the position. His new mix-tape, Faders, is a testament to that.
