Tom Rhodes

Tom Rhodes became a big figure in American comedy as Comedy Central’s spokesman in the ’90s, eventually landing his own short-lived NBC sitcom, Mr. Rhodes. But Rhodes did eventually become a huge television star… in the Netherlands, that is. As the host of The Kevin Masters Show Starring Tom Rhodes, Rhodes was a David Letterman-esque talk-show host, interviewing celebrities and cracking jokes to an adoring and loyal Dutch viewership, which didn’t seem to mind that Rhodes’ entire show was in English. It’s unfortunate for Americans that Rhodes has found such a following among the Dutch, as his meanderingly brooding comedy is substantially smarter than the typical observational cracks of American stand-up.
