Trashcan Sinatras
Trashcan Sinatras seemed poised for a Crowded House-style crossover to the adult-contemporary mainstream way back in 1990 with their debut album, Cake. But the winds of change weren’t kind to the Scottish band, which played sensitive, funny, witty pop throughout the grunge and post-grunge eras. By the time 1996’s A Happy Pocket came out, it couldn’t even get released in America (too bad, because it’s incredible). The band’s run of bad luck Stateside continued with 2010’s In The Music, which was released everywhere else in the world in 2009. In The Music features backing vocals from Carly Simon on one track, so let that be your guide—but don't let it scare you off. These songs are sappy in the best way.
