Travis
Glasgow quartet Travis made its biggest waves back in 2001 with the banjo-heavy “Sing” off the well-received The Invisible Band. Since then, 12 Memories, the Nigel Godrich-produced The Boy With No Name, and 2008’s Ode To J. Smith have kept the melodic-rock outfit on the UK music charts—and playing with everyone from Paul McCartney to Oasis—but significantly less visible to U.S. audiences. Ode’s lead single was “Something Anything,” a jangly guitar-pop cut that effectively showcases lead singer Fran Healy’s intimate singing style, but unless you’re a devoted follower of the band, it’s likely you’ve never heard it.
