Trey Anastasio

Trey Anastasio—singer, guitarist, and chief folklorist of legendary jam band Phish—never really stopped making music during his band’s five-year hiatus, which ended in 2009. Just in the past couple of years, he wrote and recorded a 30-minute song cycle for electric guitar and orchestra called Time Turns Elastic; performed it at Carnegie Hall with the New York Philharmonic; found time to jam with the likes of Phil Lesh, Robert Randolph, and Dave Matthews within several years; and even performed as a surprise guest during Conan O’Brien’s 2010 comedy tour. But then again, performing with just one band has never been Anastasio’s wont.
