TV On The Radio

TV On The Radio has turned into something of an art-rock monolith, with a pulsing, expansive sound that encompasses prog, pop, and stratified ambiance. The group’s 2004 debut, Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes, and 2006’s Return To Cookie Mountain were both fixtures on year-end top-10 lists, but 2008’s Dear Science upped the ante considerably with wild experimentation and more traditionally gorgeous song structures. The newNine Types Of Light is both a continuation and a remarkable refinement of the group’s previous work. Filled with all of the lush and soaring instrumentation fans have come to cherish, the album also manages to sneak in such weighty issues as longing and love, even amidst some dark, paranoid imagery.
